Since leaving the Royal Academy of Music Ben has enjoyed a rich and diverse international career as a timpanist, a percussionist and more latterly as a choral director and conductor. As a player he has worked extensively with all the major symphony and chamber orchestras in London, visiting the festivals of Salzburg, Edinburgh, PMF Sapporo and Aix-en-Provence as well as frequently touring Europe, Japan, China, Russia, Australia and the United States. Having worked regularly with many of the great symphonic conductors of our time Ben’s knowledge of the symphonic repertoire is broad and far reaching.Ben is timpanist with the Academy of Ancient Music and with the London Mozart Players. In addition to a busy freelance career he regularly plays, records and tours with The London Symphony Orchestra. He is Professor of Baroque Timpani Studies at the Royal Academy of Music. With conducting now playing an increasingly important role, he formed the Rinaldo Choir and the Rinaldo Consort. He has conducted the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the English Chamber Orchestra.Ben is musical director of the Wotton Concert Series. Now in its third season this regular series of concerts close to Ben’s home in rural Gloucestershire has now become established as a regular event in the South West
