Emma Sheppard

Emma held the post of Principal Viola for English National Ballet 2008-12; and has played as guest principal for Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBCNOW, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, City of London Sinfonia, Bournemouth Symphony, Glyndebourne on Tour, and Royal Ballet Sinfonia amongst others. She is the current Principal Viola for Bath Philharmonia, with whom she has also performed as soloist. Other recent solo appearances include Brandenburg No. 6 at Cadogan Hall; Whitbourn Canticles at Southwark and Salisbury Cathedrals; Telemann at St. Martin-in-the-Fields and the Walton concerto.

Emma graduated from Oxford University (Exeter College) with a BA(Hons) in Music. Whilst a Senior Exhibitioner at the Royal College of Music, she undertook an ERASMUS exchange to the Paris Conservatoire. A brief period of study at Salzburg Mozarteum followed, before she went to the San Francisco Conservatory on the Chamber Music Masters course, studying Viola with Jodi Levitz.
