More than concerts

We believe live orchestral music can change lives.

Every year Bath Philharmonic Orchestra brings thousands of people together through outstanding performances, creative learning workshops and ambitious partnerships. Whether someone is discovering an orchestra for the first time, co-creating their own music or finding the confidence to share their story, we create opportunities for people to experience, make and share music.

We Welcome

We want everyone to feel that live orchestral music belongs to them.

Each year we welcome thousands of people to our concerts, many experiencing a live orchestra for the very first time. Through initiatives such as Bath Phil for Free, partnerships with schools and community organisations, and performances that celebrate both the orchestral tradition and today’s voices, we're building audiences that are younger, more diverse and more representative of the communities we serve.

In 2025/26:

 10,000+ people attended our main stage concerts.

 3,000+ free tickets were gifted to local audiences.

 The average age of our audience has lowered from 70 to 45 in the past three years.

We create

In 2025/26:

 850+ young people took part in over 325 hours of creative music-making.

 140 teenagers from 14 BANES secondary schools created and performed original music through Harmony Rising.

 240+ primary school children experienced orchestral rehearsals and workshops.

 8,000+ people experienced performances co-created by young people.

Creativity belongs to everyone.

Our Creative Learning programmes invite children and young people to create, improvise, perform and collaborate alongside professional musicians. We create spaces where ideas are valued, confidence grows and every participant has the opportunity to shape the music themselves. Working with schools, music hubs, SEND settings and community partners across the South West, we help young people discover not only their own musicality, but what they can achieve together.

We Amplify

In 2025/26:

 More than 120 Young Carers created and performed original music.

 90% said they felt less alone after taking part.

 94% felt heard and able to share their ideas.

 97% enjoyed building on the ideas of other young carers.

Some voices deserve to be heard more loudly.

For over fifteen years we’ve worked alongside Young Carers, helping them transform their lived experiences into music, performance and powerful stories. We are proud to be the UK’s only orchestra delivering a sustained programme of creative music-making with Young Carers, creating opportunities for them to be seen, heard and valued.

Their creativity has reached concert halls, communities, national television and 10 Downing Street, opening conversations with audiences and decision-makers alike. But the greatest impact is often personal: greater confidence, stronger friendships and the reassurance that they are not alone.
